Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict

Same EA888 Gen3B + DL382 7-speed wet-clutch S-tronic as the A5 F5 — the durability story is identical. B9-specific: the plastic-housing water pump cracks consistently and is the most common coolant leak on the chassis (aluminium-housing aftermarket replacements are the durable fix). Early 2016-2017 cars also carry a weaker timing-chain tensioner that surfaces as cold-start rattle. S4 (3.0 TFSI EA839 V6) sidesteps the EA888 story but introduces its own EA839 water-pump pattern.

What's good

  • Post-2018 B9 with aluminium aftermarket water pump in the receipts — original plastic housing has a documented failure pattern; an aluminium-housing replacement is the durable fix and the receipt converts a recurring coolant problem to a one-time spend.
  • S-tronic (DL382) with 60k km fluid change receipt — Audi calls it 'lifetime fill' but every specialist disagrees; the receipt is the single best durability indicator on the gearbox (same as A5 F5).

What to watch

  • Coolant smell / damp engine bay / unexplained low coolant on a B9 — the plastic water-pump housing failure is the most-likely culprit. Repair S$1.5-2.5k done properly with the upgraded part; budget if undocumented.
  • 2016-2017 build with cold-start metallic rattle from the front of the engine — early B9 timing-chain tensioner weakness. Caught early it's a tensioner-only job; left long the chain stretches and the bill multiplies. Walk unless heavily discounted.

Audi A4 — 4th gen B8 (2007-2016)

Verdict

Mechanically the sedan sister of the Audi A5 8T — same EA888 Gen1/Gen2 2.0 TFSI family with the documented timing-chain tensioner failure pattern (catastrophic chain skip if not preventively serviced). Same HPFP cam follower wear on direct-injection trims. 3.2 V6 (BWS/BUB) is the bulletproof NA alternative. S4 (3.0 TFSI EA837 supercharged, post-2009) sidesteps the EA888 chain story but has its own water-pump pattern. Most SG B8 cars are 8-17 years old — every chain + DSG service is now age-due.

What's good

  • 3.2 V6 NA (BWS/BUB) — bulletproof Audi V6 — sidesteps the EA888 Gen1/Gen2 timing-chain story entirely. SG sees fewer 3.2 V6 cars but they're high-confidence durable picks. The boring choice.
  • Receipts for the timing chain + tensioner work on the 2.0 TFSI — same canonical preventive as A5 8T + Scirocco. Receipts > seller stories on this engine generation; the catastrophic failure mode is chain skipping when tensioner pressure drops.

What to watch

  • A 2.0 TFSI that rattles metallically on cold start — canonical warning sign of impending chain tensioner failure. S$4-7k locally for proper chain + tensioner + guide work; ignored leaves you with bent valves + cracked pistons. Same as A5 8T entry.
  • 2.0 TFSI burning a litre of oil between services — Gen1/Gen2 EA888 piston-ring sealing issue (worse than Gen3B). Multiple top-ups means ring-pack work is on the horizon; S$5-8k locally.

Common questions about the Audi A4

How much does a used Audi A4 cost in Singapore?
Most used Audi A4 on the market are around 8 years old, asking roughly S$54k–S$62k (typically about S$57k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
How much does a used Audi A4 depreciate per year?
A used Audi A4 loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 31% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
Is the Audi A4 reliable?
In our read, the Audi A4 scores 58 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
What should I expect to pay for a used Audi A4 with a given mileage?
It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
Where do these Audi A4 figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-Audi A4 listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
