- Generation
- Tap a generation (↓) to jump to its full breakdown below; the colour maps back to the timeline strip + legend above.
- Price range
- P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
- Down payment
- MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
- Availability
- High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

- Brand reliability
- Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
- Resale strength
- 100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
- Peer set
- Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
- Quadrants
- The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict
740i (B58 inline-six) is the durable pick — same engine as the X3 M40i / M340i / 540i, no chain story, no HPFP weakness. 750i (N63 V8) carries the headline expensive-failure pattern (turbos, fuel injectors, timing chain) and is the engine that earns the V8 7-Series its reputation. Air suspension is not 'if' but 'when' — BMW extended the strut warranty to 8yr/80k mi on G11/G12. Pre-2019 LCI cars also pay an iDrive-6 software-age tax.

What's good
- 740i (B58 inline-six) with full service history — the durable pick on the chassis; same engine family as X3 M40i, M340i, 540i. No chain story, no HPFP weakness; comfortable to 200k+ km when serviced. The lower-risk way into a G11 / G12.
- Air-suspension struts replaced under BMW's 8yr/80k mi warranty extension — air-strut failure on this chassis is universally documented as 'when, not if'. Receipts for warranty-replaced struts move the next failure window out by years.
What to watch
- A 750i (N63 V8) with no recent timing-chain or injector work on record — the N63's failure pattern starts at 50k miles: turbos (S$5-10k), injectors (all eight, S$4-7k), chain stretch (S$6-10k). A 750i without paperwork is a five-figure repair waiting to happen.
- Air-suspension bag droop overnight or compressor running on start-up — the bellows lower section fails by splitting; compressor follows when forced to over-run. Strut S$1.8-3k per corner + compressor S$2-3k. Walk unless heavily discounted with quote in hand.

Verdict
Predecessor to the curated 7-Series G11/G12 — N63 V8 (750i, same expensive-failure pattern as G11/G12 N63 and 5/6-Series N63 cars), N52/N54 inline-six (730i pre-LCI), N55 inline-six (730i/740i post-LCI 2012). N74 V12 6.0L on 760i is the cult flagship with rod-bearing + injector concerns. Air suspension is universal failure pattern at 8+ years. ZF 8HP transmission generally reliable. Cars 10-17 years old; aged-luxury items + electrical complexity dominate. Specialist BMW service essential.

What's good
- Post-LCI 2012 740i (N55) with full BMW service history — N55 is widely regarded as durable; the simpler engine on the chassis. Sidesteps the N63 V8 expensive failure pattern. The boring durable F01 pick.
- Documented air-suspension service receipts — universal 7-Series air-suspension failure pattern. Receipts move next-failure window out by years.
What to watch
- 750i (N63 V8) without recent timing-chain + injector service receipts — same N63 expensive failure pattern as G11/G12. Turbos S$5-10k, all-8 injectors S$4-7k, chain S$6-10k. Walk on undocumented examples.
- Air-suspension droop / compressor noise on a 10+ year F01 — universal failure pattern. Strut S$1.8-3k per corner + compressor S$2-3k locally. Budget if not addressed.

2 trimsCommon questions about the BMW 7 Series
- How much does a used BMW 7 Series cost in Singapore?
- Most used BMW 7 Series on the market are around 9 years old, asking roughly S$95k–S$103k (typically about S$99k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
- How much does a used BMW 7 Series depreciate per year?
- A used BMW 7 Series loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 23% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
- Is the BMW 7 Series reliable?
- In our read, the BMW 7 Series scores 55 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
- What should I expect to pay for a used BMW 7 Series with a given mileage?
- It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
- Where do these BMW 7 Series figures come from?
- They're worked out from current used-BMW 7 Series listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
