Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

BMW M3 F80 — S55 inline-six biturbo. Rod bearing scheduled maintenance.

What's good

  • Post-LCI F80 M3 with documented rod bearing preventive — same F82 M4 framework.
  • Competition / CS variants with documented service — cult performance trims.

What to watch

  • An S55 with no rod-bearing preventive done by 60k+ miles — scheduled-maintenance non-negotiable.
  • Rough engagement from the 7-speed M DCT — DCT clutch wear.

BMW M3 — 4th gen E90/E92/E93 (2007-2013)

Verdict

The cult V8 M3 — S65 4.0L V8 (BMW's only V8 production M3) shared with the M3 GTS. Rod bearing wear is the famous scheduled-maintenance item — S$5-8k preventive at 60-80k miles. SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) or 7-speed M DCT options; SMG mechatronic + clutch wear well-documented. E90 sedan / E92 coupe / E93 convertible body variants. Same E90 chassis as the 3-Series + N52/N54/N55 lineage but the S65 V8 is its own world. Specific paperwork: rod bearing preventive paperwork is non-negotiable.

Decay

What's good

  • S65 V8 with documented rod bearing preventive service at 60-80k miles — the canonical S65 maintenance item. A car with the receipt converts the headline V8 scheduled-failure to a known recent service. Pair with documented oil discipline (5k mi intervals).
  • E92 Coupe body with M DCT (post-2009) — the most-collected M3 E9x body style. M DCT is the more durable transmission choice vs SMG (which was an option pre-2009). The cult-buy specification.

What to watch

  • S65 V8 with no rod bearing preventive at 60+k miles — same S55 / S63 / S65 scheduled-maintenance framework. Catastrophic when bearings fail; full engine rebuild well into 5 figures. Walk unless paperwork is in hand or asking is at salvage.
  • SMG mechatronic / clutch hesitation past 60k miles — SMG is the more failure-prone of the two transmission options. Repair S$3-5k locally. DCT is materially better; consider only if the SMG paperwork is exhaustive.

Common questions about the BMW M3

How much does a used BMW M3 cost in Singapore?
Most used BMW M3 on the market are around 10 years old, asking roughly S$146k–S$190k (typically about S$190k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
Is the BMW M3 reliable?
In our read, the BMW M3 scores 55 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
What should I expect to pay for a used BMW M3 with a given mileage?
It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
Where do these BMW M3 figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-BMW M3 listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
