Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict

Coupe-styled BMW X4 — mechanically the X3 G01 sister with the same B48 + B58 engine family, same UKL transmission, same all post-N20 era buying checks. M40i (B58 inline-six) is the durable hero. xDrive30i (B48) needs the same oil-discipline rule. iDrive 6 → iDrive 7 across LCI. Slightly lower roofline + sportier styling vs X3 but mechanically identical underneath. Brake wear typically heavier on the X4 (sportier dynamics + weight distribution).

Decay

What's good

  • M40i (B58 inline-six) with full BMW service history — same B58 family as M340i / 540i / 740i / X3 M40i. The durable hero of the modern BMW range; no chain story, no HPFP weakness. Most-confident pick on the chassis.
  • Post-2021 LCI build with iDrive 7 + ≤15k km oil services — same X3 G01 LCI improvements (better infotainment + minor refinements). The cleanest used X4 G02 pick when combined with B48 oil discipline.

What to watch

  • B48 xDrive30i with service book showing only the 30k km BMW oil interval — same chain-guide-life rule as every B48 platform. Recommended interval too long for SG heat; treat as if a refresh is on the horizon.
  • Squealing or grinding brakes with no recent pad-and-rotor receipt — X4 weight + sportier dynamics wear brakes faster than X3. Pad-and-rotor job S$1.5-2.5k at BMW labour. Budget if undocumented (same flag as X3 G01).

BMW X4 — 1st gen F26 (2014-2018)

Verdict

1st-gen X4 — predecessor to the curated X4 G02. Built on the X3 F25 chassis with the same engine lineup: N20 turbo (xDrive20i / 28i, pre-Feb 2015 chain-guide recall), N55 inline-six turbo (xDrive35i), N57 inline-six diesel. M40i with high-output N55 was the M Performance halo before the M40i moved to B58 on G02. All X3 F25 buying checks carry over. Coupe-styled body with sportier dynamics + heavier brake wear. Cars 7-11 years old; F26-era pre-LCI cars carry the worst electrical glitches.

What's good

  • M40i (high-output N55) with full BMW service history — the cult-buy F26 trim. N55 is widely durable when serviced; the M40i adds upgraded suspension + diff + M Sport brakes. Same engine durability story as 535i / X1 35i.
  • A pre-2015 N20 X4 with the chain-guide recall already done — same chain-guide recall as F22 / F30 / F32 / X3 F25. Closed paperwork converts the headline N20 risk to a non-issue.

What to watch

  • A pre-2015 N20 X4 rattling on cold start with no chain receipt — canonical N20 chain-guide failure warning. Same pattern as all pre-Feb 2015 N20 platforms. Walk unless paperwork is in hand.
  • Transfer-case shudder at low speed with no fluid service — BMW xDrive transfer case fluid is the often-skipped service. S$300-600 fluid change extends life; replacement is well into 4 digits.

Common questions about the BMW X4

How much does a used BMW X4 cost in Singapore?
Most used BMW X4 on the market are around 8 years old, asking roughly S$89k–S$100k (typically about S$92k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
How much does a used BMW X4 depreciate per year?
A used BMW X4 loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 31% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
Is the BMW X4 reliable?
In our read, the BMW X4 scores 55 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
What should I expect to pay for a used BMW X4 with a given mileage?
It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
Where do these BMW X4 figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-BMW X4 listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
