Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict

Latest-gen Honda Civic — L15B7 1.5L turbo + e:HEV hybrid (2-motor i-MMD) options. The 1.5T oil dilution pattern from the 10th gen FC was addressed by software update in 2018; no longer an issue on FL builds. e:HEV hybrid uses the matured Honda 2-motor architecture (same as Vezel RV / Stepwgn RP8). 2022 worst MY due to steering issues (sticky steering recall); 2023-2024 better. Honda CVT HCF-2 fluid discipline applies to the petrol trims. SG sees the FL widely as the new daily / PHV upgrade choice.

What's good

  • A 2024 Civic with every recall already closed — 2024 is rated 81/100 reliability. Steering issues from 2022 are addressed; latest-build cars benefit from refined hardware + software.
  • e:HEV hybrid (LFA + 2-motor i-MMD) with documented battery health — same matured i-MMD architecture as Vezel RV / Accord hybrid / Stepwgn RP8. Sidesteps the L15B7 oil dilution legacy concern entirely. Pull battery SOH at viewing.

What to watch

  • 2022 Civic with steering issues or sticky steering complaint history — densest 2022 MY complaint cluster + recall. Verify recall closed via VIN check at Honda Kah Motor; without paperwork the symptom may still be pending.
  • L15B7 1.5T burning oil between services — though the dilution software fix shipped pre-FL, oil consumption can still creep up past 50k miles on this engine family. Monitor oil levels regularly; a litre between services is the negotiate-or-walk threshold.

Verdict

Hunt the 1.6 NA (FC1) — it sidesteps the L15B7 oil-dilution story entirely. Walk away from 1.5T cars (FC5) with PHV history and long oil-change intervals; the dipstick will tell you everything.

What's good

  • Naturally-aspirated 1.6 (FC1) trim — sidesteps the L15B7 turbo oil-dilution issue that hit the 1.5T (FC5) hardest.
  • 1.5T with a recent oil change + short (≤6 months) service intervals — short intervals minimise fuel-in-oil accumulation that the 1.5T is prone to under low-load city use.

What to watch

  • 1.5T variant with PHV history + long oil-change intervals — short-trip city use + extended intervals are the worst case for L15B7 oil dilution. Pull the dipstick at viewing; oil that smells of petrol is a deal-breaker.
  • Lowered or coil-over suspension — popular Civic mod, but rear-arm bushings + alignment are commonly skipped on the rework. Walk unless full alignment + recent bushing receipts are on the table.

Honda Civic — 8th gen FD/FA (2005-2011)

Verdict

The most-popular Civic generation in SG of its era — R18A 1.8L SOHC i-VTEC is bulletproof when serviced (Honda extended the engine warranty to 10 years unlimited on 2006-2009 1.8L cars after a cracked-block subset). 5-speed automatic is solid when fluid changes are kept up (most SG owners don't, hence the 'fluid changed at 100k+ km too late' pattern that haunts the resale market). At 15-19 years old now, every wheel bearing / AC / battery / small electronic item is due. Heavy PHV/taxi history is the dominant negative signal.

Asking

Median

Decay

What's good

  • Non-PHV history Civic with documented engine service receipts — R18A is durable when serviced; the 1.8L cracked-block subset on 2006-2009 builds was covered by an extended warranty (now expired — receipts are the only signal). A private-history car at this age is one of the SG market's most-affordable durable buys.
  • Documented 5-speed automatic transmission fluid service in receipts — the gearbox is solid when fluid is changed; the 'never changed it' pattern is what kills most FD autos. A car with the receipt is materially de-risked vs one without.

What to watch

  • A heavy ex-taxi / ex-private-hire FD at high mileage — the FD was a popular taxi/PHV platform in SG; ride-hail use front-loads suspension, drivetrain, interior + bodyshell wear far beyond the odometer signal. Treat as commercial-grade.
  • A check-engine light with a P0847 code, or harsh shifting from the 5-speed auto — 3rd-clutch fluid pressure switch failure or transmission service overdue. P0847 sensor is S$200-400; transmission rebuild well into 4 digits if shifting is harsh. Diagnose before signing.

Common questions about the Honda Civic

How much does a used Honda Civic cost in Singapore?
Most used Honda Civic on the market are around 8 years old, asking roughly S$43k–S$55k (typically about S$48k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
How much does a used Honda Civic depreciate per year?
A used Honda Civic loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 28% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
Is the Honda Civic reliable?
In our read, the Honda Civic scores 85 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
What should I expect to pay for a used Honda Civic with a given mileage?
It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
Where do these Honda Civic figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-Honda Civic listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
