Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict

Subcompact sister model to the Mazda 3 BM/BP — Skyactiv-G 1.5L NA (P5-VPS) is the SG-market engine. Same Skyactiv-G family discipline applies: walnut blast for carbon buildup on intake valves at 50-80k km, RON98 knock sensitivity (14:1 compression too high for SG RON95). The 1.5L is mechanically simpler than the 2.0/2.5 — fewer cylinder-deactivation complications + smaller turbo absent. Generally Mazda 2 is one of the most reliable subcompacts; broader Skyactiv reliability story carries over. Watch for the same thin paint + AC quirks as larger Mazdas.

What's good

  • Skyactiv-G 1.5L NA with walnut-blast service at 50-80k km in receipts — same Skyactiv-G family discipline as Mazda 3 BM/BP and Mazda 6 GJ. The walnut blast is the documented preventive; a car with the receipt is materially de-risked.
  • Run on RON98 fuel (visible in service log fuel codes) — same 14:1 compression knock sensitivity story. A car run on RON98 avoids long-term knock-related ring wear. Cross-reference to Mazda family entries.

What to watch

  • Rough idle / hesitation past 80k km without carbon-cleaning history — same intake-valve carbon buildup pattern. S$800-1.5k for walnut blast locally; price in if not already done.
  • Engine knocking under load on cheaper RON95 fuel — Skyactiv-G's 14:1 compression at the edge of what RON95 can handle in SG heat. Persistent knocking signals fuel quality or timing issue; diagnose before negotiating.

Common questions about the Mazda 2

How much does a used Mazda 2 cost in Singapore?
Most used Mazda 2 on the market are around 9 years old, asking roughly S$20k–S$24k (typically about S$22k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
How much does a used Mazda 2 depreciate per year?
A used Mazda 2 loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 25% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
Is the Mazda 2 reliable?
In our read, the Mazda 2 scores 80 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
Where do these Mazda 2 figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-Mazda 2 listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
