Price range
P75 → P25 of asking — the middle half of listings at that age sits inside this band. Outliers above and below excluded.
Down payment
MAS Notice 642 LTV cap applied to the age's median asking: 30% when OMV is up to S$20k, 40% above. Max loan tenure 7 years. Rows marked * mix both OMV buckets — we display the conservative 40% figure so the quote never under-states what a luxury-OMV listing at that age would actually require.
Availability
High when this age's listing share is ≥1.5× the model's uniform expectation, low when ≤0.6×, medium otherwise. Model-relative, so an evenly-spread model lands all-medium.

Brand reliability
Consumer-survey composite — JD Power · WhatCar · Consumer Reports. Same score for every variant of a given make.
Resale strength
100 − 3× annualised tangible-decay (COE-stripped). Fitted from each variant's asking-price-by-age regression then averaged at model level.
Peer set
Every same-segment model with ≥5 active PARF listings whose variants fit a depreciation curve. Practicality isn't plotted — it's a body-shape constant within the segment, so it would be the same for every dot.
Quadrants
The crosshair marks the segment median on each axis. Top-right (Safe Bets) is strong on both; top-left (Hidden Gems) holds value above what the brand reputation suggests; bottom-right (Bargain Buys) is well-built but depreciates fast — buy cheap; bottom-left (High Risk) is soft on both.

Verdict

Newest-gen Mercedes E-Class on MRA2 platform — same as C-Class W206 + GLC X254. M254 turbo + 48V ISG mild-hybrid + EQ Boost options. Inherits W206 era launch-window concerns: wiring-harness + fuse-box fire-risk recalls, 48V battery grounding / ISG whine, MBUX freezes, MBUX Hyperscreen optional. Verify all recalls closed via VIN. Post-2024 builds materially cleaner. AMG 53 trim with M256 inline-six is the cult performance variant.

What's good

  • A post-2024 build with all recalls (wiring, fuse box, software) closed off — same W206 / GLC X254 logic. Early-production recalls addressed on later builds. Cleanest used W214 pick.
  • The 48V mild-hybrid battery still inside its separate 4-year warranty — same W206 logic. Most expensive electrification component still covered.

What to watch

  • Intermittent start-stop faults or auxiliary-system warnings — the 48V battery acting up — same W206 ISG / 48V battery ground pattern. S$3-4k battery replacement if not addressed.
  • An early-2023 build with vague recall paperwork — the launch year, and the densest recalls — platform launch year carries the densest recalls. Walking without verification is the rational default.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class — W213 (2016-2023)

Verdict

Engine story is materially cleaner than W205 — no M274 wrist-pin lineage. The avoidance is early-MY (2016-2018) E220d diesels without AdBlue/NOx sensor service history; post-2019 cars settled. M256 inline-6 (E450 post-facelift) is the most-durable pick across the gen.

What's good

  • M256 inline-6 (E450 post-facelift 2020+) — Mercedes' new modular straight-six with integrated 48V starter-alternator; widely regarded as a step-change in smoothness + serviceability vs the M276 V6 it replaced.
  • Post-2019 E220d (OM654) with documented AdBlue + NOx sensor service — the diesel software + sensor hardware was iterated through the early build window; later cars don't carry the emissions-control teething the 2016-2018 cars did.

What to watch

  • 2016-2018 E220d with no AdBlue/NOx sensor service history — the first two MYs of this gen's diesel had the AdBlue tank/heater + NOx sensor faults concentrated; without receipts assume the work is pending and budget S$1.5-3k.
  • AMG E43/E63 or Premium with Airmatic + no recent strut or compressor history — same air-suspension age-degradation pattern as W212/W205 carries here; per-corner replacement is a known recurring cost at 8-10 years.

Verdict

Post-facelift (2013+) M274 turbo fours fix the M271 chain weakness; pre-facelift M271 four-cyls without service records carry the same W204 risk. Air-suspension components age predictably and need budgeting on any chassis.

What's good

  • Post-facelift (2013+) with M274 turbo four — Mercedes replaced the M271 with the M274 in the facelift, addressing the timing-chain weakness.
  • E250 / E300 V6 or hybrid drivetrain — sidesteps the M271 issue entirely; the V6 is well-regarded for longevity.

What to watch

  • Pre-facelift M271 four-cyl with no chain service record — same chain-stretch risk as the W204. Check for rattle at cold start; absence of receipts means assume the work is pending.
  • Airmatic / Air Body Control with no compressor or strut history — W212 air-suspension compressors and struts fail predictably at 8-10 years; budget for it if undocumented.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class — W211 (2002-2009)

Verdict

The SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) electrohydraulic brake system is the gen-defining check — 2003-2006 cars carry the system, Mercedes UK recalled 35,000 cars, and SBC pump failure runs S$1.5-3.5k if it goes. Verify the yellow service-label dating the last SBC pump replacement; Mercedes' 10-year goodwill warranty covered replacements but it's well-expired now. Post-2006 facelift cars dropped the SBC system entirely — the cleaner pick. Other recurring items: Valeo radiator transmission-oil contamination (catastrophic), air-suspension bag leaks, M271/M272 engines durable when serviced.

What's good

  • Post-2006 facelift W211 (no SBC system) — the facelift dropped SBC entirely and went back to conventional hydraulic brakes. Removes the headline brake-system risk of the early W211 era; the safest gen pick.
  • Pre-2006 W211 with documented SBC pump replacement (yellow label dated <10 years) — SBC pump replacement converts the headline failure to a known recent service. Yellow label on the pump is the paperwork; verify it dates within the typical 200-300k brake-push interval.

What to watch

  • Pre-2006 W211 with original SBC pump or no replacement paperwork — failure leaves you with brake-defective stop-vehicle warning + degraded braking. Mercedes' 10-year goodwill warranty is expired; replacement is now full price S$1.5-3.5k locally. Walk unless heavily discounted.
  • Pre-facelift W211 with no service paperwork on radiator/transmission — Valeo radiator transmission-fluid contamination is catastrophic when it goes. Coolant gets into the transmission cooler chamber + destroys the gearbox. S$5-9k repair. Walk on any car with murky transmission fluid or coolant residue.

These cars don't carry a manufacture year, or we haven't mapped this model's generations yet. The buying advice below treats them as one mixed group — take it with a pinch of salt.

No widely-documented gen-defining issue at the level we curate for. Let condition + service book decide; the disclosure below has the deeper advice.

Common questions about the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

How much does a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost in Singapore?
Most used Mercedes-Benz E-Class on the market are around 8 years old, asking roughly S$84k–S$108k (typically about S$95k). That's the age with the widest choice — and the most sellers competing, so it's where you'll have the most room to bargain.
How much does a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class depreciate per year?
A used Mercedes-Benz E-Class loses value at a fairly steady pace — around 17% a year — with no real plateau. An older one costs less but keeps falling at much the same rate, so there's no single 'bargain age': buy on price and condition, not on timing.
Is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
In our read, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class scores 60 out of 100 on brand reliability. That still varies by generation and how the individual car was looked after, so always check the service history before you commit.
What should I expect to pay for a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class with a given mileage?
It depends on the exact variant, age and mileage — a higher-mileage car should ask less. Use the price modeller on this page to get a fair-price range for a specific age and mileage, so you know what to offer.
Where do these Mercedes-Benz E-Class figures come from?
They're worked out from current used-Mercedes-Benz E-Class listings in Singapore — asking prices, mileage and registration years — not past transaction prices. We refresh them regularly, and we flag thin data rather than guess.
