Verdict
VW's modern coupe based on the Golf Mk6 platform — same EA888 Gen1/Gen2 2.0 TFSI + DSG family. The pre-2010 Gen1 cars carry the same timing-chain tensioner story as Audi A5 8T; the post-2010 Gen2 / Gen2+ improved but did not eliminate the issue. R trim adds high-output EA113/EA888 (depending on year) with stronger internals. DSG (DQ250 6-speed wet) is the more reliable of the VW dual-clutches; DQ200 dry 7-speed (if found) is the worse pairing. Most SG Sciroccos are 7-17 years old — every cooling system + DSG service is now age-due.
